We here at IH&S specialize in the assembly of Fluidic Valves, Fluidic Connections, Optical Systems, Optical Filters, UHPLC Fittings, Degassing Solutions, Custom Design, Fluidics Design, Optics Solutions, Microfluidics, Manifolds, HPLC, UHPLC, Tubing, Fittings, and Low-Pressure Connections. POSITION SUMMARY - Lead the project release and engineering efforts for various line extensions of the company's new products - Manage project cross functional teams on a day-to-day basis, following the IH&S Product Development Process - Work closely with key customers in support of application specific design needs and product optimization - Work with suppliers to optimize new products for cost and manufacturability - Conceive the mechanical design of fluid handling products with moderate complexities including product concept and layout, product specifications, design and testing, and material and fabrication process selection typically utilizing SolidWorks solid modeling software - Develop and apply advanced Mechanical Engineering theories, methods, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems - Create and complete verification test plans of fluid handling products with the support of Quality - Interpretation of test results and translation of results into new product design improvements - Evaluate and recommend new technologies and design approaches that meet or exceed product requirements within cost targets. SCOPE OF ROLE - Ability to lead projects and use of project management software (Workfront is a plus) - Additional computer skills at an intermediate level: word processing, spreadsheets, etc. - Background conducting Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Design for Manufacturability (DFM, six sigma, Poka-yoke--this is strongly preferred) - Background leading small teams and developing/managing project schedules - Design experience to include machined metal and injection molded plastic components - Experience interfacing with internal and external customers, and outside suppliers - Familiarity with engineered materials such as plastics for molding and machining, aluminum, stainless steel - Knowledge of low to medium volume manufacturing processes including metal fabrication and plastic injection molding - Understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE) techniques (highly desirable) - Must have excellent written and oral communication skills - Operates under limited supervision from Engineering Manager; exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation of results. Interfaces within Engineering and all other departments - Proficiency creating verification plans and reports (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ) desirable - Proficiency with motorized mechanical assemblies - Skilled in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) tolerance stack creation and interpretation - Travel required 10% or less to suppliers and customers KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & KEY COMPETENCIES - Able to balance work between multiple projects - Electrical background (automation, familiarity with industrial controllers and controller programming) is a strong plus - Experience with SolidWorks and EPDM in a network environment - Great mechanical understanding is needed - Knowledge of MS Office Software and Value Engineering - Strong organizational skills - The ability to visualize problems and solutions and work with and gather data/run statistical analyses Qualifications:   EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - BSME (or MSME desired, but not required) - General Mechanical Engineering expertise in all aspects of new commercial product development. Fluid dynamics expertise is a plus - Minimum of 3+ years managing projects within a multi-discipline team as well as general Mechanical Engineering investigation, research, and problem-solving expertise (in all aspects of new commercial product development) - 3D CAD experiencerequired: SolidWorks preferred
